Day Trip to Dinant Belgium

Hello Everyone,

Last weekend Debbi and Kevin drove Kirsty and I to Dinant Belgium for the afternoon. I loved traveling with them because they are so adventurous! We would just pull of onto the side of the road to look at things, or they would take us to random areas and show us neat things they have found. It was really fun and kept things interesting the whole car ride there. They took us to an old roman bridge built in the 1500's which was so cool! A great start to the trip!
It was such a quaint town and so beautiful! When you first enter the town this is what you see..
It was a really relaxing trip out into the country. We ate Lunch by sur- Meuse (the River) and had great conversation.
Kirsty's shoe broke and so we had to go shoe shopping right away, and what a bummer that was :D haha NOT! I ended up buying some really cute shoes too.. of course. After we bought shoes we went to the church the main landmark of the city. We walked in the side door and had no idea we stepped right into a wedding. Luckily the bride had not walked in yet so we snapped a few pictures and left quickly and quietly. Heres a picture of the outside of the church.
We took a sky lift up to the top of this mountain where they had an old fort to explore. Here is a view of the city on the way up..
In one of the museums they had mannequins dressed up as belgium airforce, and we laughed so hard about how long the men's eye lashes were.. so I had to take a picture to show you. Looks funny huh!?

After we walked through the fort we walked around the town for a few hours. Heres some snapshots of the area, hope you enjoy them!
Town Hall..

The Police Station
I loved the architecture of the whole place, it had a really neat look to it, heres just one of the houses along the river..
I met this really nice man, he's a musician. We shared a slurpee on a park bench and had a great time together. His name was Adolphe Sax, he invented the saxophone in the city of Dinant. hehe
So obviously there was a large saxophone monument in the city too. Kirsty drooled over this area of the town cause she's a bando and I love her for it. It was pretty cool cause at night main street has light up saxophones that line the streets. It seemed like it would be a fun place at night to visit too.
On the way back there were many places we would just pull off the road and stop. Like this church for example. It was fun to just explore new places, the sun was right behind the tower bell and I just couldn't resist snapping a shot.. so here it is..
Okay.. now this part of the trip was maybe the most AMAZING! We live so close to belgium and in the middle of farm towns but I still had never seen a real Belgium Blu Cow. FINALLY! I was so excited! We got right up next to the fence and took a look. He really didn't like us taking pictures of him but I didn't care. They are genetically enhanced cows for the meat. Look at those muscles on his butt and sides! So intense!
Here is a side view of them.. They kind of look like oversized pigs because of their short stubby legs, and big bodies. I found it interesting that they cant have natural birth so they have to have a c-section every time one is born. But the most interesting fact about them is that they are so big, and have such little legs, they cant lay down like normal cows.. so they sit like a dog! like this! We found another one sitting, how funny is that!
I might be easily amused, but I hoped you liked the cow facts. I thought it was pretty interesting.. But anyways I had a great time on this trip, it was exactly what I needed after my crazy Barcelona Trip and I am just really thankful I had friends to go with me. The longer I am here the more God is blessing me every day and the more and more I am learning from serving him.
Love and a BIG hug,

Nicole
