Good Afternoon everyone! To continue my blog of saturdays trip to belgium... After Brussels a little bit later that day we drove over to Ghent which was about 45 minutes away from Brussels. It took a little bit of searching but when you get there it hits you like a ton of bricks! I loved it! My neighbor Yevette told me that this would be a great place to visit and boy was she right! It is in the middle of nowhere but it was such a cool medieval town! Along the way after we parked we walked long the river..

I was so excited for this picture, I loved the feel of the town! it was very quaint.
Everyone rides bicycles everywhere!
The first landmark we saw was the Het Gravensteen, This was my first castle to ever see in europe! I thought it was the coolest thing ever!

I even got a picture with a knight :)
A crossword puzzle in French graffitied on the wall! you don't see that every day :)

A Real European boy with the striped shirt! SO COOL!

After we got to see a little bit of the town Mary and I decided to take a water boat tour, it was really neat! It ended up only being 6 euros! for about 50 minutes! Here are some of my snapshots from that!

Part of the Korenlei

This Bridge I found out was built for King Henry to show his womanizer skills, The tour guide told us this bridge was built in honor of his love life.

Elections in France are coming up and as we were taking the boat tour these people in clown outfits were paddling and making fun of one of the candidates. It was kind of funny to see all these clowns walking around. They were passing out those fake red noses around town and I got one! first Souvenir!
Saint Peters AbbeyBell Tower (The Belfry 12th century) This town clock always runs 5 minutes late, Once it was made it has never been changed otherwise so that the people of Ghent do not need to worry about the time
This is the third church was the Church of Saint Nicholas
LAST but not least... LOOK AT THIS CAR! haha so funny!
Anyways I hope you enjoyed my photos and my stories, I am planning on going to Paris next weekend, but you can check back as little or as often as you want. I will be trying to update this at least once a week with stories and pictures. Today was my first day of official missionary work in the print shop. And BOY did it kick my butt. God has been teaching me a lot of amazing things I did not even know I had in me. I am very thankful I am here, but I would appreciate prayer.. if you could spare a few minutes. I am having a hard time adjusting emotionally and physically to France. I am a pretty outgoing person and because I don't know the language I cant communicate at all. Some people do speak english but all the jokes and things I am missing out on are in French. I feel left out and frustrated I took spanish in high school :/ Prayer that I can break out of my shell and cross the language barrier would be amazing. Or if I could learn French in my sleep ASAP that would be great too. And lastly if you could pray for my body. Physically I don't know what is going on but I am itchy all over with little bug bite looking bumps, they are really annoying. Like REALLLYYY annoying. Maybe its allergies to something random? Anyways I just want to say I appreciate any contact also that all of you have given me, it helps to know I am loved and cared for across the globe :) Until next time Au Revior and GoodnightLove and a Hug,
Nicole
